Love Endures All Things

This song...it always seems to tighten my chest and make my heart heavy. I remember listening to it when I had to make one of the most important decisions of my life...and this song actually helped me make the decision. The decision to walk away from someone I loved so much.

Mariah Carey - I Want To Know What Love Is

"I gotta take a little time, a little time to think things over.
I gotta read between the lines, in case I need it when I'm older."

"The hardest part of loving someone is knowing when to let go and say goodbye." A lot of people make the assumption that loving someone means fighting for them, doing whatever it takes to make it work. But only a fool stays and tries to mend what's completely broken–a wise person knows that certain things are beyond their control. We only possess so much power to fix things. We need to accept and know that there are times when situations can no longer be fixed with our own hands, but need to be laid to rest in the hands where all things can be healed: His.

We all know that popular 1 Corinthians chapter 13 verse. But when you truly understand the meaning of it, it starts to bring an overwhelming sense of peace. Especially verse 7: "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." Read that again and let it sink in: "Love endures all things." When someone truly loves you, they are willing to endure whatever pain comes along in order for you to, not only be happy, but to be in peace. Peace does not exist when your spirit is weak. And when the spirit is weak, we become broken. And when we are broken, it spreads throughout every single part of our lives...and affects everyone in it, especially those closest to us.

Loving someone doesn't mean doing whatever it takes to make the relationship work. Loving someone means always wanting the best for them, not only for today, and not only when they're with you, but for their entire life, and with whomever they end up spending it with. Loving someone means having faith that no matter where life takes you, you will both be led to where you need to be.
