Father's Day Cruise

Monday, June 20, 2016

We spent this year's Father's Day on board the Star of Honolulu cruise ship! This has been my 2nd time on this sunset dinner cruise and it was definitely more enjoyable than the first. The first time I went on this cruise was about 6 or 7 years ago and my fear of heights and nausea was just all up in my face. Maybe bravery comes with age, who knows. But I was able to make it 4 floors up to the top deck! Take that fear of heights!!! I'm not gonna lie, just walking up the stairs to the 2nd floor deck made me a bit dizzy BUT...the views from the top deck was absolutely worth it. I may live in Hawai'i but it's not often that we get the chance to see the ocean in this view (well, unless you're in the Navy or a fisherman, etc).

The cruise featured live Polynesian performances and an all-you-can-eat crab dinner with sirloin steak. Dinner was pretty good but I just wish we could have had the option to choose how we wanted our steak cooked 'cause I like my meat BROWN and WELL DONE. Medium rare is just...#barf. But I understand how chaotic that would be to cater to everyone's preferences in such a busy place.

I took sooooooo many photos of the water but majority were out of focus, like this one with the lifeboat :( Pure paranoia was raging through my blood every time I tried to take a photo. I mean, steadying your phone/camera is already tricky with the ship rocking back and fourth. I was not about to drop my phone in the water! But ohhh, the things we do to try and get amazing photos, right? The photo below was the most nerve wrecking to take. I had to stick my arm way out passed the railing to get this shot of mine and my little cousin's feet lol!

It was such a lovely night. The weather was a bit overcast, as it has been for the past month now, but it was still perfect enough to enjoy Oahu's stunning views. I'm just so happy my dad enjoyed himselfwe were so worried he would get nauseous but he was perfectly fine! So blessed to have spent another Father's Day with my dad. Hoping and praying for more to come <3
